Award Winning - INVALIDATED

CLICK HERE >> Watch NOW on Amazon Prime Video.  Our client approached us with an important issue having a negative impact on innovation in the United States; "US Patent protection is weakening, leaving innovators wide open to having their ideas ripped off."  Our documentary film team began to research the harms of weakening patent laws - something your really don't think about, right?  Patents are a complicted and abstract topic. How do we connect with our film's audience with a good story so they'll take action to make a positive change?  But, once we uncovered the incredible stories of inventors who were left unprotected by their hard earned patents, our story began to take shape.   When father of eight, Josh Malone, invents a genius a way to fill 100 water balloons in 60 seconds, his invention "Bunch O Balloons" becomes an overnight success on Kickstarter and an international viral hit! Scrambling to get his idea to market and bring financial security to his family, Josh applies for a US Patent.  Suddenly, his plans of success are blindsided when his genius idea is stolen by a big company before he can make his first dime! Thrust into a battle to save his invention he uncovers the shocking truth that our patent system is weakening,  property rights are at risk and American Innovation is dying!  Interviews with experts like former Attorney General, Ed Meese, Inventor and Congressional Representative, Thomas Massie, Antonin Scalia Law Professor and IP expert Adam Mossoff provide shocking information about the state of the weakening US Patent system.  Other inventors share their stories of theft, patent invalidation and difficulty finding investors for their patented innovations.  Ken Blackwell, Leonard Leo, Dr. Matthew Spalding and conservative leader Dan Schneider all provide valuable insights into how the current system is harming Americans and the American innovation economy.  With theft of US intellectual property by China topping $600 billion per year, other countries are profiting off the ideas and labor of American inventors.  Big tech companies are finding it easier and cheaper to infringe on patents rather than pay the patent owners.  With an administrative tribunal pulling patents back from inventors, there is no safe place to bring an invention to the marketplace in America and our innovation is going overseas.  The United States once led the world in new medications, new technology, and new ideas. American inventors and their inventions touched the lives of people in every country, of every race and every language. But our weakening Patent system is INVALIDATING their property rights – and with it, their incentive to create. Money and inventions are now going to other countries, and with them go jobs and a strong economy.  Building something and owning it IS the American Dream, but without a strong patent system, the American Dream will be invalidated!  WATCH NOW on Amazon Prime Video

"INVALIDATED is worth checking out. [Amazon Prime] Sure, it's a polemic aimed at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and it's entirely one-sided. But the personal stories of the Malone family and other inventors featured in the film are compelling and effectively told. The passion these inventors share about creating, the grievance they experience from feeling their ideas are being ripped off, and their sense of betrayal from the government they thought would protect them should not be brushed aside too quickly.   "
"Director, Luke Livingston of Ground Floor Video accepts Best Documentary award for "INVALIDATED"  at the Anthem Film Festival in Las Vegas in July 2019.   INVALIDATED is about the weakening of the US Patent system and how it negativity impacts inventors and innovation. See it now on Amazon Prime and iTunes.  This is the 2nd Best Documentary award for INVALIDATED. "

Arauco Livestreams North America

The Challenge:

Live Streaming for corporate events around the world is nothing new to Ground Floor Video, but it is a new idea to some of our clients.  ARAUCO needed to communicate a very important corporate event in real time to their offices across North America.  It was the reveal of new branding for all of their North America operations, including a new logo, colors, imaging and fonts.  The video quality had to be broadcast quality and in high definition 1080p.   Plus, it needed to be a simple, seamless experience for the remote viewers with no buffering or drop-outs of the live video.

“It was our first time using streaming for a rather complicated event where we had to connect more than 12 locations across North America with PowerPoint presentation, videos and different people presenting.  Having someone like Luke and his team walking us through the process was key to the success of the event.”  Sebastian Cremaschi – ARAUCO.

The Solution:

Planning began weeks out working with ARAUCO’s social media team, I.T. department and building engineers.   Ground Floor suggested using ARAUCO’s YouTube account to deliver the livestream because it offered some level of privacy for internal company communications.  By setting the live event to “unlisted” it was hidden from search engines so only those locations with the link would be able to watch.   To ensure a high-quality viewer experience, Ground Floor provided a live test feed from their studio 10 days out from the event so ARAUCO offices could test the audio/video playback quality of their host facilites.  The I.T department was able to address any issues in advance and guarentee the network bandwidth.  An on-site survey of the corporate theater was completed to insure it met the proper requirements for audio and video connections. A design plan was created for stage layout, projectors, audience seating and presenter positions.

“Our approach is to make the livesteam experience as easy and turn-key as possible for our clients. We’ve been producing corporate videos for years so we begin with the basics like pre-production planning, client review of content and solid technical integration.”   Luke Livingston – Ground Floor Video

On the morning of the livestream Ground Floor Video’s four man crew set up the equipment in the theater auditorium in time for a rehersal so Cremaschi could work with the CEO and walk through their presentations.  In the afternoon they went live and Livingston switched between the cameras, PowerPoint screens and videos all while monitoring the livestream feed.  The event went off without a hitch with very impressive new branding stealing the show.

“The technical competence of the team, attention to details and flexibility are things that we really value from Ground Floor Video.  We were not just rookies on this but we also had to reschedule the event in very short notice due to hurricane Irma.  Luke was able to adapt to the circumstances and deliver a fantastic product.  It was a great experience working with him!”

ARAUCO is an innovator in forestry, renewable and sustainable products and energy.  To work with this international company and provide a corporate livestream to their locations around North America was truly an honor.  –  Livingston

Coca-Cola Happiness Machine

The Challenge

A Coca-Cola dispensing machine that will get you more than you paid for?  Definition 6 needed an Atlanta video production facility that could provide hidden cameras for their client, World of Coke!  The fun campaign labeled, "The Coke Happiness Machine" had already been done in other parts of the world, but why not bring it home to Atlanta right smack dab in the middle of the World of Coke?  The challenge was to hide cameras in a very large, open plaza to record the reactions of people as they put money into a vending machine, but received instead cupcakes, bicycles, picnic baskets and flowers.  Trying to get all of these spontaneous and hilarious reactions and then quietly explain while getting releases signed was quite a challenge.

The Solution

Ground Floor Video met the challenge head on and placed cameras in bushes, trees, the machine itself and even in the backpack of the director who became part of the excited crowds.  Twelve video production assistants posed as random tourists who whipped out their hidden releases to explain to surprised customers that they had been recorded. Three producers used cell phones to communicate approaching targets. For three days, the Ground Floor Video crew was able surprise unsuspecting Coke drinkers making the video a huge hit.
